What to expect at an Initial Chiropractic Assessment

If you have never been to a Chiropractor and wondering what happens in an initial assessment, Dr. Courtney explains in the video below.

The initial consultation is normally broken into 4 areas the history, physical examination, findings and treatment. The more information you can give us on this appointment the better.

Some of the questions we may ask include:

  • Where do you notice the issue?
  • When did you first notice the issue?
  • Was it after a particular event or injury?
  • How do you describe the discomfort?
  • Is it just one region or do you notice it travel?
  • What aggravates or relieves the pain?

Next we will run through the physical examination – here we will assess to see which tissue is affected. This may include movement, muscle tests, orthopedic test and/or nerve test.

Next, let’s talk. Here we will give you a run down of what is happening (your diagnosis). This is also your time to ask any questions regarding your concerns about your complaint and treatment.

Lastly, treatment. Pending on what your complaint is this may include adjustments/ mobilisations, soft tissue work and taping.

If you have been wondering what Chiropractic can do for you, come and see one of our experienced team.
