What is the difference between dry needling and acupuncture?

They are very similar and use the same or very similar needle. It’s a sterile one-use needle, is very tiny and doesn’t inject anything, most people say it’s even relatively pain-free and they can barely feel the needle go in. Acupuncture is based on old Chinese medicine and pressure points, whereas dry needling is targeting trigger points in muscles and is used by Physiotherapists as research has supported its effectiveness for injuries and pain. Dry needling increases blood flow to an area which speeds up healing, it releases tight muscles to cause a relaxation response and improve movement along with decreasing pain.
