As 2020 begins it is a great time to assess where you are at in all your different ‘lifetime’ accounts. These accounts may include but are not limited to health, financial, familial, relationships, spiritual, intellectual, and the list goes on…. An easy way to create goals is to first go back over the year that was (2019) and not only be appreciative of all your wins but also look at the goals you didn’t accomplish and work out whether they were important enough and why you didn’t achieve them. Moving forward, a very simple way to set your goals is using the SMART acronym.
This SMART acronym stands for:
- Specific;
- Measurable;
- Attainable;
- Relevant;
- Time-bound.
Too often we set lose or un-attainable goals that may not be realistic or have no time limit on their accomplishment. By using this principle it will set you on the right track to getting exactly what you want out of life. You should then have a 12 month goal broken down in to quarterly targets, and those quarterly targets should also then be broken down further in to monthly achievements. Make sure you reward yourself along the way (maybe not with chocolate or alcohol) by acknowledging your positive progress as well.
As the majority of us have our health as one of the main goals each year, whether it be to lose weight, get stronger, get rid of a niggling injury, or simply feel better within ourselves, it is very important to make sure you are working with a health professional that can give you the best and latest advice on how to achieve these. This is why at Thrive Health Co. we have created such an amazing team of Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Myotherapists, Massage therapists, and Pilates Instructors in order to give you all the help you need to make this your best year yet!
We especially can’t wait to hear all about the SMART goals you have created for you to be the best you can be this year and beyond!
