Meet local Physiotherapist Alasdair Jones

Alasdair Jones
Alasdair has been working as a Physiotherapist for 25 years, in that time running a multidisciplinary clinic, leading teams in a large Harley Street hospital in London as well as recently working in an musculoskeletal NHS setting assessing anybody that presented to the clinic, and he has also spent a short time providing physio within the NDIS in Australia this year before arriving at Thrive Health
As well as seeing everyone from twelve years old to those in their 90s for most of his career, Alasdair has had the privilege of looking after hundreds of athletes, from university talent development squads in Volleyball, Basketball and Rugby through to elite athletes in Tennis, Skiing, Athletics and Golf (including some talented individuals in slightly more obscure sports such as Curling and Croquet!). This included extensive athletic screenings, devising programs to optimise movement and reduce the risk of injury with exceptional strength and conditioning coaches and working pitchside/courtside in some rather exotic (and not so exotic!) locations.
Alasdair also worked for a number of years with the NHS and was involved with with development of a pioneering program of care which integrated spinal care (for low back and neck pain) across Chiropractic, Osteopath and Physio clinics, highlighting how patient choice of treatment would lead to better results in for patients in both the short and long term.
One of Alasdair’s real passion areas throughout his career has been accelerating recovery for those people undergoing post-op recovery (and ensuring effective preparation and prehab for orthopaedic surgery) seeing patients not only before and after elective surgery (eg hip & knee replacements, ACL repairs, shoulder surgery) but also helping to manage successful recovery from complex injuries after trauma, addressing problems that often arise many years later.

Alasdair currently spends time outside the clinic exploring everything Brisbane has to offer with his family at the weekends, with the daily routine being well filled running his children to rugby or cross country events before and after school, but he grabs time to run, walk his cocker spaniel, does some regular resistance training at UQ and on the rare occasion he carves out enough time to play, loves to get out on the golf course and meet new people.
